At the onset of the Spanish Civil War, a sheltered boy (Manuel Lozano) in rural northern Spain forms an indelible bond with his kindly leftist teacher (Fernando Fernán Gómez), who imparts his love for nature to the young student. Director Jose Luis Cuerda gentle and nostalgic drama, based on the short stories of Manuel Rivas, was nominated for 13 Goya Awards (the Spanish Oscar), winning for Best Adapted Screenplay.

He's put all that behind him, but now that two dead bodies have been found near his home, he's suspected of wrongdoing once again. The case takes an unexpected turn when he receives an anonymous e-mail showing his wife alive -- and eight years older -- instructing him to "tell no one." Kristin Scott Thomas co-stars.

Martina (Angela Finocchiaro) is a call girl who considers her work a form of therapy to clients who need her help, including Maurizio (Maurizio Nichetti), a quiet audio engineer who dubs sounds for cartoons. The two begin a gentle courtship, but his work and real life blur as he's slowly transformed into an animated version of himself. Though he's mortified by the change, Martina finds that the cartoon is just as sweet as the real man.

Writer-director Zoe R. Cassavetes' charming indie yarn follows 30ish New Yorker Nora Wilder (Parker Posey), a single woman in a dead-end job whose friends are all happily engaged romantically. But love seems to elude Nora -- until she meets an oddball Frenchman (played by Melvil Poupaud) who helps her discover life beyond her self-imposed boundaries. Gena Rowlands, Griffin Dunne and Drea de Matteo also star.

From Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain) comes this intriguing espionage thriller set in World War II-era Shanghai. Based on the writings of author Eileen Chang, this Chinese-language tale stars Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Wei Tang, Joan Chen and Lee-Hom Wang. Lee reteams with his longtime producer James Schamus, who has collaborated with the director on nine of his films.

Up-and-comer Max (Vincent Cassel) abandons his fiancée to pursue an ex-girlfriend in Gilles Mimouni's tangled romantic mystery. Obsessed with the possibility that his lost love, Lisa (Monica Bellucci), is really his soul mate, Max breaks into her apartment and becomes entangled with her look-alike, Alice (Romane Bohringer), who just happens to be dating Max's best friend. Meanwhile, Lisa is stalked by her rich -- and possibly murderous -- lover.
